Pollinator Project: A Community Art Adventure
We, and many other species enjoy the fruits of their labors,
They may be small, but pollinators have a big impact on the beauty and diversity of the natural world.
and flowers would be lost without them!
Project members have recently launched a Facebook group where participants can contribute to and use a stock of photos featuring pollinators, flowers, fruits and gardens. These online Albums can provide inspiration and material for participants in CCAC's
Pollinator "Quilt" Art Challenge.
Help us celebrate the small creatures whose collective efforts have such a big impact on our surroundings by creating collages inspired by the art of quilting. Participants can work in any media of their choice (e.g. fabric, paper, paint, clay, glass etc.) and with an eye to traditional quilt patterns or in the style of modern art quilts. We will get together to share ideas during spring and summer and the project will run until mid November 2023. It should generate some beautiful entries for CCAC’s upcoming Member’s Art Show, Fertile Inspirations, which opens in January 2024 at the Link Gallery in Paris, IL. We are also exploring opportunities for displaying works related to this project at other local venues in spring of 2024.

These sample digital "quilt" patterns use photos
from the project's Facebook albums and a
traditional Dewey quilt block pattern. There are
so many ways to imagine how pollinators and
quilts could intersect; we can't wait to see what
you dream up!
